Rome’s streets are rapidly filling up with overflowing trash bins, graffiti, and litter. Citizens are now taking the initiative to roll up their sleeves and clean up their city. Our project aims to investigate local citizen initiatives regarding waste in Rome. We will focus on the relationship between this form of citizen participation and the public support in Rome. As a case study, we will consider the functioning of the waste collection services, as a form of public services, in Rome. This project is supervised by dr. M. C. van der Waal.
"to all the Romans who love their city: Stop the complaining, stop the insults, let’s start cleaning it!"
